Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer

You know Dasher, and Dancer, and Prancer, and Vixen,
Comet, and Cupid, and Donder and Blitzen,
But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all?

I don't "recall" much of anything, anymore...
especially after 5pm.
OMG!  Seriously!
I am so wiped out!
This week's to-do list is absolutely nuts!

I'm going day by day...and barely hanging on.

Have you ever caught yourself calling one
of your children by another child's name?
All.the.time.
I caught myself doing that this past weekend.
I started to say my oldest daughter's name,
then ran through the beginning of the 2 boys' names
until I finally ended up saying
The Darling Diva's name correctly.
Luckily, my 3 year old just looked at me
patiently until I got her name out!
What is this world coming to?
I'm turning into my mother!
Well you do have 4 short people.
I only have 2 and one's a boy and one's a girl.
Yah, they love it when I mistake their names.
Gotta give your kid something
to talk about in therapy.
Mine have quite the variety!

I just HAD to throw in a handwriting sheet
for my kiddos using the words from
Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer by Johnny Marks.
I'm actually REALLY tired at this point.
(Are you feeling my pain? 4 more days of school before Winter Break.)
...and then the heavens will open,
the angels will sing,
oh wait...those are teachers singing...
ALLELUJAH!  ALLELUJAH! ALLELUJAH!
Christmas break is here!

When I made the Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
Handwriting Sheets (check it out)....
my kids loved it so much that
they asked me if I could make a set for Rudolph.
Seriously?!
Yup....crazy, I know.

I had the music from youtube playing in the background
while they worked and they took turns
clicking it each time it went off.
Anyone know how to have a
youtube video repeat by itself?
Please share!
Can you tell I really don't know
what the heck I'm doing on a computer?
I just pretend!
King Common Sense sums it up:
I know just enough to be dangerous!

My kids loved, loved, loved writing the song lyrics....
and I loved, loved, loved that
I was able to get testing done
while they worked.
We even took a class vote
on whether or not I should make Rudolph lyrics.
(Can you tell I really didn't want to commit?)
A teeny part of me was hoping that they would vote
"NO, not interested, maybe next time"....
but all but one little boy put their hands up
when I asked if they REALLY wanted me
to make the handwriting sheets for them.
AND if I did....
they would really
WANT to sit and write out the words.
What was I to do?
When 17 kids can't wait to write and read something....
what else can an overworked,
cross-eyed teacher do,
than to buckle down and make it for them....
right?
Yep, pretty much!
You dedicated teacher you.

Soooo...
You can thank 17 sun-kissed,
Florida babies for this one!
SUN?!  Must you say that?
We haven't had an outdoor recess

in about 2 weeks!
...and it's killing me!
Fresh air?  What's that like?
Florida weather in December...it's a beautiful thing!
I'm not bragging.
I'm just trying to appreciate what I have,
and not focus on NO SNOW coming my way!

Speaking of "red".....
I teach with a lady from Long Island,
so that is what I have decided her blog name will be.
Long Island came up with THE BEST, most FABULOUS
way EVER to send home a glass, Christmas ornament.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxjylOkfka4edHM2MXNoYThpZFE/edit?usp=sharing
Here are her directions:

1.  Place Red Solo cup in a cellophane bag
(much cheaper than cellophane wrap)
2.Wrap ornament in tissue paper
3.  HOLD the tissue-covered ornament inside the cup
4.  Tie a ribbon around the cellophane bag AND
the tissue-covered ornament at the lip of the cup
so that the bottom of the ornament is
actually "floating"
in the cup.

Oh......Holy Macaroni Batman!
WHY oh WHY did I NEVER think of THIS???????
Oh.my.golly.
Can you say genius?

A built in air pocket.
Wowzers.
One cup was actually dropped,
and the ornament stayed intact.
Kid tested, teacher approved.
It doesn't get any better than that!

She has always purchased plastic, Chinese boxes from
a craft store to send her ornaments home
(Long Island always does everything with style),
but since we share 54 students this year....
this was her solution to spending $60.00-$90.00  on boxes.

As Queen Chaos....
I dub thee, Long Island, as an Innovative Teacher!
Wear your "I" with pride!

At some point I WILL add more to this post.
You just never know when!
I don't even know when...
but it will happen!
I feel it in my tired, teacher bones!
